All notes for an item are saved under a toggle heading named Zotero Notes. The syncing progress window should display at the bottom-right of Zotero, and the note should be saved as content within the body of the Notion page. The reason I would love to have the two integrated is that, I think notion is much more convenient in taking notes (allow all kinds of media embedding). Select a note under a synced item, right-click it to open the context menu, and select Sync to Notion. It would be nice to see function like right click in zotero - send to notion and an item appears in the linked notion database. For example, if we delete an item in zotero database, it can't be reflected in notion, and if later on I implement the bibliography info in zotero which leads to a change in the citation key, it is also a problem (the unique ID is changed).Īlso moving the entire library to notion is a bit redundant. I thought of things like automate.io to make a google sheet connected to my notion, but the step it allows is very limited.
#Notion and zotero how to#
The key thing, of course, is how to keep the two databases connected. I would use the citation key (generated by BetterTex) as the title column (as it automatically to be), which is convenient for referencing. Very popular in the scientific (more specifically academic research) community.

I tried to export my zotero library as a json file, convert it to csv, and then import to notion, which is good as an initial step. It is used mainly for scientific publications because of the ability to create and organize a document automatically from your contents and some commands. In theory this is technically possible, but it would be a separate project from the plugin and something I wouldn't be able to take on anytime soon.I'm thinking whther we could try something similar used by zettlr-zotero integration ( )?

Contribute to dvanoni/notero development by creating an account on GitHub. Scaffolded with generator-zotero-plugin and built with zotero-plugin-webpack. A Zotero plugin for syncing items into Notion. A Zotero plugin that syncs items into a Notion database when added to a specific collection. Notion has yet to release official webhook support, but there are some third-party tools that can be used for this. GitHub - dvanoni/notero: A Zotero plugin for syncing items into Notion.
#Notion and zotero update#
Getting updates from Notion into Zotero would require setting up a hosted service that subscribes to webhooks from Notion and then uses the Zotero API to update items in Zotero.

It's actually not a plugin itself but rather a tool for generating new good question! Two-way sync would be neat, but it's unfortunately beyond the scope of the plugin.
#Notion and zotero install#
There's no need to install generator-zotero-plugin. Are you not seeing anything happen when you drag items into the collection? As long as the name of that collection is specified in the "Notero Preferences" window, then you should see either a progress indicator or an error message appear when you drag the item(s) into the collection. The final step to sync an item (or items) into Notion should be to drag the item(s) from the Zotero library list into the desired collection in the left sidebar in Zotero. This video shows in detail how to search in scopus, save and export relevant literature, import references into zotero, and integrate zotero with notion to send references from zotero's. Thanks for the feedback! Someone on GitHub also brought it to my attention that I haven't done a great job of explaining exactly how to use the plugin, so updating the README is on my list of things to do.
